“Sparky’s having a brain freeze,” Darla tells Willie.

“Happens to all the puppies the first time,” Willie tells me. “You’ll get used to it.”

A second later my head warms up. Now all I taste is sweet yummy, yum, yumminess.

My tail leaps out from between my legs and starts wagging.

Lolani moves her shave ice away. I guess she’s afraid my tail will want a taste, too.

“Stop it!” I bark at my tail.

But my tail doesn’t stop. It keeps wagging.

I reach my head around and try to grab my tail. My tail wags harder.

I reach. It wags. I reach. It wags. Soon my tail and I are running in circles.

“I’m gonna catch you!” I bark at my tail. My tail doesn’t bark back. It can’t. It doesn’t have a barker.
